Level 1 "truly insane, Everyone involved should be put in time out. not gonna lie, you had me in the first half. level 2 I can see the box quote now: Truly insane. Harris Mayersohn level 2 Not gonna lie they had me the whole full, but apparently that wasnt a good thing level 2 I want to see it more now, like Insane bad? Why a time out? Like the pg13 of this good or bad Im intrigued. level 1 Ive been trying to check out reviews as well and found two local ones since it already came out yesterday here in my country. One says it sucks and the other one says its just ok. Pretends to be shocked level 1 Black Christmas is one of my favorite horror films of all time. The 2006 remake burnt me already but a PG-13 second remake that tries punching well above its weight narratively, spoils the twist in all of the marketing materials and seems incredibly far removed from the franchise in just about every way aside from the collegiate Christmas setting is just rubbing salt in the wound. level 2 Exactly. I'm usually not one to harp on the "PG-13 kills horror" theme, but in THIS case, that rating told me all I needed to know about this movie. For God's sake, if you're going to remake a cult classic horror movie like Black Christmas, why would you soften it and water it down to get a PG-13? level 2 I liked the remake. The cast was great and the characters were pretty well developed for a slasher flick. level 2 Every poster I've seen looks like it's targeting the handful of people who liked Suicide Squad. I keep thinking, Wait, this is black Christmas. Still gonna see it, though. Thanks Regal Unlimited. level 2 HEY! I liked the 2006 also, it is trash. I won't even go see this. It seems to be pushing a narrative with no real story line behind it. level 2 What was the 2006 version of Black Christmas like to watch? level 2 I see youre still misusing the word “franchise” and acting like ‘Black Christmas is a profitable property. level 1 Feed me more garbage Blumhouse teen horror. It sustains me level 2 Pure junk food for your brain. So good. level 2 Yeah man, I love this stuff. Cheap garbage horror tastes so good.

I watched the picture in 3D! This movie is🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 and made me laugh harder than the first sequel! Each and every second of the movie was entertaining. Level 1 Great for Jumanji. Wonder what kind of legs it will have. level 2 WoM is solid, and since theres only ONE other big movie coming out this holiday (SW) and both are proven to be able to coexist Id say this will do well. Not 2017 well, but still at least 700M WW level 2 I imagine pretty good. All my grandkids have been asking to see it over the holdiday, and even my kids seem interested in a passive way so there's a good chance demand to see the movie may be spread over a while. level 2 I just like Karens legs. level 2 Great for Jumanji. I disagree. For a movie that just 2 years ago made 400m and had a great audience reception, a 50m opening is low. level 1 Friday night exits on PostTrak segued to 65% general audiences, 35% families, with 3 1/2 stars from general audiences and parents and 4 stars from kids under 12 skewing 55% boys to 45% girls. A largely even spread among all audiences with men over 25 leading at 28% females under 25 at 25% females over 25 and men under 25 each at 24. Close to half of the audience was under 25 with 72% under 35 years old. Diversity mix was 49% Caucasian, 21% Asian/Other, 15% African American. 15% Hispanic. The Next Level played best in the West and South-West but was pretty solid throughout. Word of mouth still solid if unspectacular. level 2 I loved it, way more than the previous one. Thought it was funnier, the villain was cooler, and the story more interesting Also, I like how I cant fault the movie for having video game logic, because its a video game level 1 black christmas was so shitty level 2 More like Brown Christmas level 1 Really surprised about Richard Jewell opening so low. Thought it'd play like The Mule. The marketing was pretty intense for it, there was a commercial on ESPN for it every like 30 minutes the past 2 weeks. The showing I was at yesterday at 1:00 PM was pretty packed too. level 2 I think the main difference between The Mule and Richard Jewell was that Clint Eastwood was onscreen for the former, but not the latter. I think that made the film more special, and got his fans to turn out at a higher than normal rate. Richard Jewell also lacks a big name in the lead role, unlike Sully and American Sniper. level 2 Anecdote- I generally only see previews for films at the theater, and I still haven't seen a Richard Jewell ad despite seeing 13 films since the beginning of October. In contrast, I saw The Mule trailer several times in the lead-up to its release. level 2 The showing I went to was also packed. I live in Atlanta, so that may explain it. A movie about an event in Atlanta, filmed in Atlanta is bound to do well. It was a good crowd, too. The most "disruptive" part about the experience was whenever someone pointed out the real life location of some of the scenes. level 2 It's more like The 15:17 to Paris which only made 36m domestic 56m worldwide while The Mule was 103m domestic and was a pretty interesting story. level 2 Did the controversy ruined it? level 2 I thought it was a great film. The interplay between Rockwell and Hauser was excellent. I'm also surprised Hauser is being overlooked for awards – he did a truly great job. I wonder if word of mouth will give it some legs.

I THINK SO. Black christmas 2019. December 12, 2019 4:00PM PT The 1974 slasher film gets updated to the new age of woke feminism in the rare college horror movie that actually has something on its mind. “ Black Christmas, ” a low-budget Canadian horror movie released in 1974, was a slasher thriller with a difference: It was the very first one! Okay, there were more than a few precedents, from “Psycho” (the great-granddaddy of the genre) to “The Last House on the Left” and “The Texas Chain Saw Massacre” to Mario Bavas “A Bay of Blood. ” But “ Black Christmas, ” directed by the not so horror-minded Bob Clark (who went on to make “Porkys” and “A Christmas Story”) may have been the first movie to draw the slasher components together, almost by happenstance, into a mythological commercial template: the plot that ritualistically knocks off one pretty young thing after the next; the dark-side-of-a-holiday title; the ending that suggests that the evil will just go on. (You could argue that the entire ethos of franchise culture was born, four years later, in the look-well-do-anything-to-spawn-a-sequel! final shot of “Halloween. ”) That, however, was a thousand slasher movies ago. “Black Christmas, ” the new remake of the 1974 film (there was another remake in 2006) is also a slasher thriller with a difference, in this case the novelty being that the movie, in its deviously sensational psycho-with-a-longbow way, is actually rooted in something relevant and interesting. Once again, a group of sorority sisters are stalked in their group home by a mysterious killer (or, in this case, killers. But the women in the new “Black Christmas” are more than victims; they have agency — and personality. Theyre seniors at Hawthorne University who are spending the last night of fall semester on campus before the holidays, and whats on their minds are the interlocking ways that men — in frat houses, in classrooms, and through the ages — have built an entire system out of pushing them around. Imogen Poots, who has always been such a compelling actress, brings a pensive heart and seen-it-all delicacy to the role of Riley, who three years ago was sexually assaulted at a frat party after she had passed out. The film tackles the aspect of frat culture that slides, behaviorally and ideologically, into rape culture: the ritualistic devotion to binge partying where young men try to break down womens resistance by encouraging them to drink as much as possible, so that — in the minds of the men, at least — the issue of consent is left in the dust. Three years ago, when Riley accused Brian (Ryan McIntyre) of raping her, the system of justice didnt believe her story — but thats because of how the system, at college, is built (in reality, if unofficially) around a certain what-happens-at-the-frat-bash-stays-at-the-frat-bash cult of animal-house hedonism. “Bad” behavior, and that includes the crime of rape, gets swept under the beer-soaked carpet. Its Rileys buddy, Kris (Aleyse Shannon) who brings these issues to the fore. Kris is a college activist whos crusading against “the white-supremacist patriarchy. ” Shes got a petition going to fire Professor Gelson, an English teacher played with sly-dog unctuousness by Cary Elwes, whos got a canonical chip on his shoulder that turns, on occasion, into fits of classroom rage. Its easy, and tempting, to imagine a movie that offered a subtler dissection of these issues — like, say, a gender-based variation on “Dear White People. ” Yet the elemental women-v. -men aggression of “Black Christmas” meshes well with the films landscape of heightened horror. Riley, Kris, and several of their M U Kappa sisters show up at the Founders fraternity in holiday elf suits to perform a song-and-dance number, only to turn it into a holly jolly Christmas-carol call-out of rape culture entitled “Up On the Frat House” (“Ho, ho, ho! I didnt know! ”. “Black Christmas” may be the first film outside of Takashi Miikes “Audition” to offer a fusion of woke sociology and vengeful violence, and the result is an innovative if at times crudely diverting fright flick in which the heroines, and the villains as well, are all playing their part in a larger scheme. The slasher madness arrives as payback for that accusatory song performance, which Riley sings while staring into Brians eyes. (Does he feel guilty? No, he winks. But the frat already has its male-supremacist insanity thing going. It has updated the hazing rites for the age of #MeToo, so that in a hidden room, we observe slivers of a ceremony in which the pledges wear medieval robes and masks like the ones in “Eyes Wide Shut, ” standing before a bust of the colleges founder that literally cries tears of black blood. These dudes are operating out of a belief system — their conviction that the rise of feminine power is phasing them out. “Black Christmas, ” in its way, gives hyperbolic vent to a certain 21st-century male paranoia. Especially when the hooded figures start to show up in the shadows of the sorority, like Death from “The Seventh Seal” with better weapons. People begin to die, but the movie, directed and co-written with utilitarian urgency by Sophia Takal, keeps the women alive as characters. Its not just that they want to escape. They want to find out whos doing this to them and why, and when they go back to the frat house to unmask their tormentors, “Black Christmas” turns into an entertainingly over-the-top face-off. You cant take a movie like this too seriously, but its still one of the rare slasher films that offers a holiday from bloodshed for its own sake. David Heymans Heyday Films, the company behind this years hot Oscar contenders “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” and “Marriage Story, ” is set to produce “Shackleton, ” the long-gestating biopic of legendary polar explorer Sir Ernest Shackleton, with Tom Hardy on board to play the title role. Just wanted to put up a quick post reminder in case anyone joining Dreadit in search of movies for Christmas wants a flick that hits on both horror and the holidays. I had always written it off (literally, not even clicked posts about it or looked it up) because I thought it was a satirical horror/comedy just based on the name (I'm ashamed. Finally, stumbled upon it on Shudder in the slasher section this past October, was thrown off by the bio, gave it a go and loved it. Now about to rewatch it (and partially because I just want to see those few scenes of Margot Kidder in the film's early scenes. Awesome flick and hope a few others give it a go this Christmas season! Edit: Black Christmas (1974) of course.

Black christmas mafumafu. Love your channel bro. My absolute favorite on YouTube rn. Black christmas movie 2020. Well, this is different from the original film. Conflicted. The cult angle is a little odd. Ultra-fans seem to be a beej upset about these changes, so that might sour the early WoM. That having been said, I'm not sure how much nostalgia there ever was for the original considering the poor results for the 2006 remake, so it's tough to say how much of a plus or minus that is. December is crowded and there aren't that many good comps for it. Krampus exists, I guess, but I have a feeling it'll do better than that. Feminine empowerment angle worked for Halloween, and I can see it being a way of differentiating itself from the crowd. It was a big part of the original story, so that's nice. It'll be very interesting following the social media metrics on this film, to see if it makes more of a dent as time goes on. For now, I'm neither high 'nor low on it. We'll say OW: 20m DOM: 65m (legsssss) WW: 115m EDIT: At least some girls I know are really, really vibing with that early scene where Helen thinks she's being stalked. It'd be interesting to watch if moments like this create a bigger response from casual horror fans who aren't as invested in the property.

This song is firrreee 😩😤🔥❤️. YouTube. Black christmas 2006. Ex-dean Shaun ‘Rev Harrison makes rare appearance for Latin Kings charges February 10, 2020 at 5:34 pm MOVIE REVIEW “BLACK CHRISTMAS” Rated PG-13. At AMC Loews Boston Common and South Bay Center, Regal Fenway Stadium and suburban theaters. Grade: D As a horror movie, the new “Black Christmas” qualifies as a piece of coal plopped in a Christmas stocking. Set at fictional but diabolical Hawthorne University, somewhere in the USA (actually New Zealands U. of Otago) “Black Christmas” spends a completely boring and uninteresting first hour detailing a troubled history of pop culture political correctness issues on campus and in the classroom that spotlight gender hostilities. Did we mention that along with a lengthy exposition about troubled Riley (Imogen Poots of the similarly themed, much better horror movie “Green Room”) there are three sorority sisters murdered in the first hour? And yet its still boring. Riley, a candidate for PTSD, was given a “roofie” and raped three years earlier by the now-graduated fraternity president, but no one would believe her. As the college shuts down for Christmas, Riley and her sorority sisters will do a song-and-dance number at the frat house that pointedly replays Rileys history. This musical quartet, sassy, happy and buoyed by their own moxie, easily rates as the highlight of a movie that soon descends into risibility. With the furious fraternity brothers eager for revenge, the women dont yet realize theyve started a battle few will survive. In this toxic atmosphere that evokes “The Handmaids Tale” we learn that the bust of Hawthornes founder — “He was a slave owner in the North” were told — has been removed from campus to the frat house, where it figures in pledge initiation rituals. We also discover that the arrogant classics teacher (a perfectly reptilian Cary Elwes) is the target of a recall petition because he only includes “dead white authors” in his course. If none of this, needless to say, is exactly tension-producing, some of it makes no sense — as in why, as the college shuts down for the holiday, would the sorority be buying a Christmas tree?  Wouldnt it have been up for the weeks before everyone leaves? Once “Black Christmas” gears up for a deadly battle pitting preppy frat louts against the sorority, co-writer and director Sophia Takal dives into a most ridiculous deep end with an improbable twist that earns laughs, not shrieks. This third time is hardly the charm for a remake “inspired by” Bob Clarks 1974 original — and undoubtedly politically incorrect — “Black Christmas. ”.

I'm giving this a solid C+ to B. I would watch it again, especially if released unrated. Some of the ending felt a bit abrupt, and I assume a lot of that was editing down to get that PG-13.
Overall, I thought it was suspenseful enough and did have some surprising and fun kills. There were a few tip of the hats to the original that I enjoyed.
Some of the activist stuff was a bit heavy handed, but I really think that the rape culture messages in the movie landed pretty cleanly.
I would recommend seeing it on a Friday or Saturday night. Honestly, the audience participation in my theater was entertaining. It's that kind of horror movie. Black christmas. Black christmas 2019 review.
