Although it wasn't perfect (great effects but some obvious post production dubbing in some places) it was still one of the most original films I've seen in a while. The actors were well cast although Eddie Redmayne somewhat reminds me of Matt Smith in this film.
The film did sag in the middle if I'm honest but the riveting last twenty minutes more than made up for it. Part whimsy and part man (and woman) against the elements, this film did slightly remind me of a film I saw several years ago with Robert Redford where he played a Sailor stranded alone in a yacht fighting for survival on the high seas (sorry, I forget its name.
A film that should appeal to families and perhaps older viewers who may recall the likes of around the world in 80 days and Scott of the Antarctic. No bad language and no scenes likely to upset anyone but maybe very young children, I found this a pleasant enough victorian set small scale adventure film that is well done and fun to watch.

I just saw the Film 'The Areonauts'🎈 and at the end of the film my mum and I just sat in our cinema seats listening to this song all the way through (even though this song did go through the whole credits)🎞. This was just because that after seeing an incredible and emotional film this song was just the perfect way to end on and it also just summed up what this film was in all that you feel at home, where your heart is. Weather up in the air or with the one you love.❤️. This song was just perfect! Well done and Thank You.😊🤘. I've watched this for the first time now and i have to say outstanding work bro. The implications you convey through the background-voices, that's rad. Keep it up, you're good.

 

I was not in the cinema for almost 3 years and damn this is a outstanding movie! Appreciate it, thank you Sony. Watched trailer seeing Emma Watson on the thumbnail shrieked when Meryl Streep shows up. 0:26 - the terminators emerging from water: did the CGI team even TRY? The old stop motion figure would have been looking more realistic than this. Some reach for the star, some push others towards them Let me write that down for a teacher quote. If you are going to write a film that is based on real events, then write the events as they happened.
As many others have written, there was no Amelia Rennes but another man, Henry Coxwell, in the balloon with James Glaisher.
If you know this before watching the film, then it is simply unwatchable as it completely disrespects Henry by having his feat given to a woman for no other reason than to bend to the insanity that is overwhelming North American and the UK.
Women have accomplished much in history, there is no need to rewrite actual events to artificially pander to them, as I am sure people would rather see actual events where women broke barriers and excelled, and this is as insulting to women in general as it is to the memory of Henry Coxwell.
I was aware of the actual events beforehand, therefore I despised this movie from the get go, but did actually manage to watch it and can ascertain that it is not worth watching, even if you discount the fictional Rennes.
2 stars simply for some of the balloon scenes, that although green screen, looked fairly good.
Not Recommended.

Henry Coxwell was the actual co-pilot in real life. I don't know why Hollywood likes to rewrite history. The aeronauts csfd. One could say that aeronauts are the ancestors of the modern astronaut. He needs to branch out of the same role. And I'm not talking about Jupiter Ascending... The aeronauts clip. The full audio of their experience would be so interesting to listen to dang.
